Demonstrate the value

This is the final stage of the lifecycle, most of the resources will have been released so the focus is on proving that the operations are now stable, the business case has been achieved and that the benefits have been or will be delivered to an acceptable level of confidence.

There is a critical step of decommissioning legacy systems; this can be complex for a number of reasons, which could be technical or emotive depending on what the project has delivered.

It is rarely the case that there is nothing to decommission, whether it is an IT system, operational tools or a process/way or working so it should not be underestimated.
